The Conundrum of e-MTBs

This is where things get complicated...
Other than where one falls on the “how much do press fit bottom brackets suck” scale, no subject is probably as controversial in mountain biking right now as e-bikes and specifically e-MTBs. 

​There are a range of viewpoints on the subject, but most seem to fall into one of two categories:
  • e-MTBs are a net positive for mountain biking.  They bring in new customers, they are good for older folks and they allow those with some health conditions to ride.
  • e-MTBs are a net negative for mountain biking.  They disrupt existing users more than they bring in users, they are for the lazy and if we want to talk about riders with health conditions, let’s talk about adaptive MTBs.
